Sutton Downs Branch campaigning in the recent Belmont By-election
Welcome to the Sutton Downs Branch of Sutton and Cheam CLP. We cover the wards of Belmont, Cheam and Sutton South.
We hold regular branch meetings and send delegates to the monthly General Committee (GC) meeting.

The local issues we are campaigning on include:
Improving traffic and transport links around the future London Cancer hub on the former Sutton Hospital site. With busier roads and a growing population we’ll fight for more frequent bus and train services.
Opposing a replacement A&E for St Helier and Epsom Hospital being built on the former Sutton Hospital site
Ensuring parking consultations do not see residents lose parking spaces – see more here. We want to see a fairer system for permit fees so there are no hidden costs. The next parking consultation must be based on meaningful listening with more residents.
Getting value for money from our waste services. Missed collections and litter remain too common. We’ll call on the council to issue Veolia with a Service Improvement Order.
Inclusion for all. No resident without online access should be excluded from vital services.. We’ll push back against the council’s digital by default approach.
