Chrishni Reshekaron – Labour 2024 Parliamentary Candidate
Chrishni Reshekaron – Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Sutton and Cheam Constituency
It’s an honour to be running as Labour’s candidate to be the next MP for Sutton and Cheam.
I grew up here and went to St Philomena’s School. I studied law and worked in a solicitors practice. I now work for the largest UK Charity for domestic abuse, supporting victims of gendered violence. One of my priorities as your Labour MP will be to work for a reduction in crime and violence against women and girls.
Alongside my 12 years of professional experience, I currently serve as a Councillor and am Labour’s Lead on Housing, campaigning to improve conditions in the social and private sectors. The UK is currently facing a national housing crisis. Sutton and Cheam faces the same pressures. Our children and grandchildren are unable to afford high rental costs or the chance to buy their first home. As your Labour MP, I will advocate for better quality and more affordable housing for all.
The NHS is on its knees. I am immensely grateful to the staff at The Royal Marsden who cared for my mother. I saw firsthand the pressure on our dedicated doctors and nurses. Labour has a plan to invest in and rebuild the NHS. I want to be a part of making those improvements as your Labour MP.
The last 14 years of Conservative Government, propped by the Liberal Democrat Coalition, have broken our country. Sutton and Cheam deserve better, and I will deliver the change our residents need.
This General Election is Labour’s best chance to win in Sutton and Cheam (Survation MRP Polling). Use your vote to elect me as your Labour MP, and we can work together to give you and your family a fresh start under a Labour Government.
Chair of Sutton and Cheam Labour Charlie Mansell said:
“We are very pleased that Chrishni Reshekaron is our candidate. She is an energetic campaigning candidate with strong local roots and experience of elected public office and would be ready to serve as the Labour MP in this constituency as part of the urgent change to a Labour Government that this country desperately needs”
“Chrishni follows in the footsteps of the many strong candidates we have run over the last 106 years in this area like Chuter Ede, Dr Somerville Hastings, Frank Judd and Emily Brothers who made a big contribution to politics or pioneered social and political change. I have no doubt Chrishni will make her own big contribution to the local community and wider society”
