Our local networks
Our local networks

Get involved with our Local Party Alumni Network and Network of local supporters and friends of the local party.

Sutton and Cheam Labour has a long history and many people have been active in it and moved away or on to other things. As a result we are developing a network that will continue to keep us in touch with:

  • Our Alumni Network – members who have moved away from the area. We now have a developing mailing list to inform them about important issues of interest,
  • Members from other areas who have campaigned with us locally over the years such as some of our former candidates for public office.
  • Those who like the often pioneering social and political work we do within the Party and local community and want to support us in various ways to continue this work.
  • Registered Affiliated Supporters of the Local Party – we have had just under 300 of these since 2015 and we have maintained contact at various times.
  • Local Affiliated Trade Union Members, Members of Trade Unions Affiliated to the TUC, Co-operators, members of Affiliated Socialist Societies and the members of local public campaigns that we as a Party support who see themselves as part of the wider Labour, Trade Union and Co-operative Movement but who have not yet made the step of joining the Local Party.
  • Former members who may have left the Party at some point but still value the local friendships they established with us when they were a member.

What you can do as a Friend?

  • If you want to be added to our mailing list contact us at: suttoncheamclp@gmail.com
  • If you want to show further support for us you can make a one-off or regular donation directly to us here.
  • You could sign up to the Labour Lottery here and if you use the specific links on that page, then Sutton and Cheam CLP will get 50% of the funds.
  • We aim to hold an “Annual Reunion” online Zoom meeting each year (possibly near our 21st June founding date) to commemorate our founding over a century ago to celebrate the lives of our late members and former local members and will encourage Friends of the CLP to suggest additions to our comprehensive local history. We held our first one on 21st June 2024.
  • If you are a former local member and in the Party elsewhere in the UK and want to help our election campaigns you can phone our local voters here.
  • If you want to come and help our election campaigns go to this page here.
  • If you are not a member here or elsewhere and enjoy your relationship with us you can volunteer to help here or apply to join the Party here.

Note: Inclusion in any Friends of Sutton Labour mailing list is solely a decision of the Local Party and does not incur any rights or responsibilities for either the Party or the individual. It is merely a mailing list to keep people in touch and encourage friendship and solidarity.

Friends List

We may at some point produce a public list of “Friends” and if you and the local Party were happy with it we would include you on this page.
